Announcing the USENET/WWW Playoff Pool 2004 (REPOST)

by usenet_playoff_pool@[EMAIL PROTECTED] (USENET/WWW Playoff Pool) Apr 3, 2004 at 09:17 AM

The end of the NHL regular season is near, and we're all looking
forward to the playoffs. To make them even more fun, I'm holding another
hockey pool. This pool will be run for the playoffs only, and is much
simpler than the regular season pool. You do not have to be entered in
the regular season pool to participate in the playoff pool. With 374
teams in this year's regular season pool, I'm hoping the response to the
playoff pool will be high.

The rules for the playoff pool are simple: you must pick 25 NHL
players. Your point total is the sum of your chosen players' point
totals. If you pick goalies, they earn 2 points for a win and 1 extra
point for a shutout, assist or goal. There are no restrictions on the
makeup of your team. The strategy is obvious. You want to pick players
from teams you think will make the final four or get lots of points early.

You must submit your team no later than the start of the first
playoff game. Your email must be "postmarked" before 8:00 PM EDT, April
7. The final night of regular season play is April 4, so you will
have a few days to think it over.

You can get more information at the playoff WEB site.

I am looking forward to hearing from all the armchair playoff
prognosticators out there. Good luck, and start thinking about who to
pick for.
