Wolves Weekly Press Notes for Nov. 28

The Wolves had a season-high three-game winning streak snapped last 
Friday. The squad looks to rebound with two home games this week. Check

--- The Wolves fell in a two-goal, first-period hole and never 
recovered, losing to the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights, 4-2, at the Allstate 
Arena
--- Forwards KARL STEWART and RAMZI ABID notched goals for Chicago
--- Goaltender JANI HURME recorded 19 saves in his first pro start in 
three years

(at) Peoria 4, Chicago 1
--- The Peoria Rivermen netted three unanswered goals to overtake the 
Wolves, 4-1, at Carver Arena
--- Left wing RAMZI ABID netted the Wolves lone goal, while center JARED 
ROSS collected the assist
--- Goaltender TUOMAS TARKKI registered 27 saves


Wed., Nov. 23

--- The Wolves grabbed a 3-0 lead en route to a 4-2 victory against the 
Hamilton Bulldogs at the Allstate Arena
--- Center KEVIN DOELL led the team with two assists, while forwards KIP 
MILLER and KARL STEWART and defensemen MARK POPOVIC and BRIAN SIPOTZ all 
scored for Chicago
--- Netminder TUOMAS TARKKI turned aside 31 of the 33 shots


WOLVES TO WATCH


--- RAMZI ABID: Registered seven points (4G, 3A) in his last six games, 
which includes a goal in each of his last two contests ... Paces the 
team with 17 points in 17 games this season ... Shares first on the 
squad with nine goals and five power-play markers, and ranks second with 
eight assists and 52 penalty minutes


--- KARL STEWART: Registered two goals in his last three games =3F which 
includes a short-handed tally =3F after notching just two in his previous 
11 outings ... Shares fourth on the squad with four goals and ranks 
fourth with 40 penalty minutes ... Accrued career-highs with 16 goals 
and 226 penalty minutes in 77 games with the Wolves last season


--- JARED ROSS: Held to just one assist in his last three games after 
stringing together a season-high five-game point streak (Nov. 4 to 19), 
collecting two goals and five assists during that span ... Paces the 
team with 11 helpers and shares second with 13 points in 13 contests


--- TUOMAS TARKKI: Recorded a loss for the first time in four starts 
last Friday, ending a three-game winning streak ... Paces Wolves 
netminders with three wins in four career AHL appearances ... Registered 
a 2.71 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage


--- BRIAN MALONEY: Ranks third on the club with six goals and fourth 
with 12 points in 17 games this season after notching two goals and two 
assists through 17 contests with the Wolves last year ... Paces the 
squad with 64 penalty minutes after ranking fourth on the team with a 
career-high 164 penalty minutes in 77 games last season


WOLF TRACKS


--- The Wolves pace the AHL with an average of 8,742 fans per home game.


--- Chicago has been held to two or fewer goals in four of its six home 
tilts, which includes last Saturday=3Fs loss against Omaha.


--- Chicago shares second in the AHL with six short-handed goals, which 
includes notching one in each of its last two games; the team has 
tallied four on the road, which is tied for the league lead.


--- The Wolves surrendered two power-play goals on Saturday, the first 
time the team allowed multiple man-advantage markers in six games.


THE JOY OF SIX


Chicago has used six different starting goaltenders this season (ADAM 
BERKHOEL, MICHAEL GARNETT, JANI HURME, GREGG NAUMENKO, STEVE ****ELDS, 
and TOUMAS TARKKI), the most in the AHL.


NOTABLE


On Tue., Nov. 29, Wolves left wing KARL STEWART will visit the Homewood 
Public Library, 17917 Dixie Hwy., at 4:30 p.m., as part of the team=3Fs 
=3FRead to Succeed=3F program, which has reached nearly 370,000 children
in 
10 seasons.
