MIFSUD WITH PAIR OF GOALS IN WIN FOR GWINNETT

The Gwinnett Gladiators used two goals from Scott Mifsud to post a 4-2
win over the Toledo Storm in Game 3 of the American Conference Finals on
Friday night at the Toledo S****ts Arena. Gwinnett now leads the best of
seven series 2 games to 1 with game 4 at the S****ts Arena on Sunday at
6:05 p.m.

Toledo used a power play goal with 3:46 left in the first period to take
a 1-0 lead on the Gladiators. Despite being tied up in the slot, Matt
Zultek batted a bouncing puck out of the air in the slot past Gladiators
netminder Sean Fields for the marker. Gerry Burke and Ryan Reid
collected the assists on the only goal of the opening period.

The Gladiators tied the game at one just 2:10 into the second period
just as a power play expired. Scott Mifsud slid right through the slot
and ripped a shot past Toledo goaltender Logan Koopmans for the
Gladiators first goal of the contest. Steve Slaton picked up an assist
on the goal for the Gladiators.

Jon Awe gave the Gladiators their first lead of the game at the 3:13
mark of the second period ripping a slapshot past Koopmans from the left
wing point. Adam Courchaine picked up an assist on the goal winning a
faceoff right to Awe to set up the marker.

Toledo answered in a scramble in front of the Gladiators net on a power
play to tie the game at two. Fields made the initial save but couldn=3Ft
cover the puck and the rebound bounced right to a waiting Adam Keefe in
the off wing face off circle and buried the puck for the goal. Ken
Magowan and Jeff Attard had the assist on the power play goal at 7:10 of
the second period.

Gwinnett regained the lead at the 10:01 mark of the middle stanza with
the Gladiators first power play goal of the game. Troy Milam ripped a
slapshot past Koopmans from the blue line that found its way through
traffic and into the back of the net for the marker. Jeff Campbell had
an assist on the maker.

Mifsud=3Fs second goal of the game gave the Gladiators a two-goal
advantage just 53 seconds after Milam=3Fs tally. Mifsud flipped the puck
off of the netminder Koopmans from behind the Toledo goal line and into
the net for the goal. Couchaine picked up his second assist of the
contest on the goal at the 10:54 mark of the second.

The Gladiators took the 4-2 lead into the third period and clamped down
defensively in the final period for the win. Gwinnett finished the game
outshooting the Storm 32-22 as Sean Fields finished with 20 saves for
his third win of the playoffs.
