Why did the Flames sign Kipper for 6 years?

by Father Guido <Father.Guido@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Oct 30, 2007 at 06:24 AM

Without much defense this season we can see that the previous results
weren't just Kipper, but a whole team effort.

$35M for 6 years ties up a lot of money. The Flames have some
excellent, but of course untried goalies in the minors which were
supposed to be our future, at least I thought they were for the
future, but they must be wondering if they'll ever play in the NHL for
Calgary now, especially with Kipper playing 70+ games a year. A good
duo of the farm hands could've saved a lot of money for re-signing
players they would like to keep, or for shopping for free agents etc.
