The case is simple, every spring he trades away prospects and picks
for aging vets, but doesn't go out and get enough to win the cup, or
even give the Sharks a realistic shot. Every summer he trades away
multiple picks to move up and grab some young player when he probably
could get someone of equivalent potential without the trade.
He just burned 2 first round draft picks for Campbell who wasn't
enough to get the job done and left. DW then said the 2008 1st rounder
was a "glorified 2nd rounder." FYI, Campbell was a 6th round pick.
There is nothing wrong with trading picks for established player,
however to denigrate the value of picks is ludicrous.
The Sharks doing the same thing they did under Dean Lombardi, they
are unwilling to go young and see what develops and they are equally
unwilling to go all out going after veterans to win now.
